Sanyo lance la production de cellules solaires dans son usine de Dorog en Hongrie

Japanese electronics giant Sanyo has started mass production at its HUF 4.5bn solar cell plant in the Hungarian city of Dorog, the company told MTI on Wednesday
With the start of production at the plant, Sanyo has boosted annual output at its base in Hungary by 30pc to 315MW, said administrative chief Csaba Horvath. The investment has created more than 300 workplaces, he added.

Sanyo Hungary spent about HUF 3.7bn on technology at the 9,000-square-metre production hall. The investment was supported with a grant of almost HUF 900m from the European Union and the state of Hungary.

Sanyo opened its first plant in Dorog in 1999. It made air conditioners, mobile telephones, batteries for power hand tools and rechargeable batteries. Sanyo moved the production of solar cells to Dorog in 2005. Headcount at the base reached 1,350 in 2007.

With expansion of solar cell production capacity at the plant, headcount will reach earlier levels, the company said.
