Spanish wind energy giant Iberdrola Renovables has commissioned its second wind farm in North Western Hungary, bringing the company’s total wind energy capacity operated in the country to 88 megawatts.
Beside its two operating wind farms, Iberdrola has a further 70 megawatt capacity under construction in Hungary. With a total capacity of 158 megawatts, Iberdrola could take as much as 50 pct market share in the Hungarian wind energy sector in the forthcoming years. To date, the installation of a 330 megawatt capacity was authorized in Hungary, while operating capacities added up to 201 Megawatts in early 2010. However, the Hungarian Renewable Energy Strategy has set out the ambitious target of 1000 megawatt wind energy capacity to be installed by 2020.
