A consortium of the construction companies Vegyepszer, Ke-Viz 21 and Kozgep on October 20th 2008 laid the cornerstone for a HUF 1.7 billion (EUR 6.47 million) solid waste treatment facility at Nagyecsed (NE Hungary).
The facility is part of a program to manage long-term waste treatment requirements for 600,000 people in 200 communities located in the region.
The local council will cover 10 pct of the cost of building facility from loans, while EU funds will cover the rest. The program plans to increase selective waste collection to 30-40 pct in ten years.
The waste-treatment facility will provide employment for 50 people.
