German engineering giant Bosch will invest EUR 31m and hire 150 more engineers at its R+D center in Budapest this year.
Bosch Budapest R+D Center Manager Henk Becker told Vilaggazdasag that the company plans to boost the number of mechanical and electrical engineers employed at the facility to 450 by the end of 2008 and to hire even more engineers in 2009.
The company's Budapest R+D center is divided into five departments, where automobile-industry technology, such as rain and sunlight sensors, ultrasound parking systems and ABS anti-lock braking systems, are developed and tested, the newspaper wrote.
Vilaggazdasag noted that Bosch donated HUF 75m (EUR 307,237) to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics this year as part of the company's effort to support technical higher-education in Hungary. Bosch also plans to open an automobile-electronics laboratory at the university, according to the newspaper.
Bosch opened its Budapest R+D center in 2000 and has increased the number of engineers employed at the facility from 53 in 2004 to 314 in 2007.
